Important Update on the Casa Alitas Shelter Closure
As of January 23, Pima County administrators informed Catholic Community Services (CCS) of the impending closure of the Casa Alitas shelter for legally processed asylum seekers, effective Sunday, January 26.
While this marks the end of one chapter, our mission to serve the most vulnerable in Pima County remains unwavering. Through our wide range of programs—including housing support, behavioral health services, care for families and seniors, and assistance for those experiencing homelessness—we will continue to meet the pressing needs of our community.
The closure of Casa Alitas does not diminish the profound impact it has had on the lives of thousands of asylum seekers, thanks to the dedication of our staff, volunteers, and supporters. We are profoundly grateful for their commitment and compassion.
As we navigate this transition, we are working closely with local officials to ensure that all parties affected by this change are supported. We will provide updates as more information becomes available and remain committed to keeping our staff, supporters, and those we serve informed.
We thank our donors and community partners for standing with us as we continue to live out our Catholic mission of compassion and service.
