Catholic Community Services Announces Abel Vázquez as New Executive Director of Information Technology


Tucson, AZ – January 30, 2025 – Catholic Community Services (CCS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Abel Vázquez as the new Executive Director of Information Technology. With over 17 years of experience in technology and education, Abel brings a wealth of expertise in leading high-performance teams, delivering innovative IT solutions, and managing strategic technology projects. His leadership and commitment to community development make him an ideal fit for CCS as the organization continues evolving technology to serve those in need better.

Abel’s career began after his service in the United States Marine Corps, where he earned 11 awards, including the Combat Action Ribbon and the Presidential Unit Citation. After transitioning from military service, Abel focused on education and technology as the Director of Technology for Career and Technical Education (CTE). His innovative approach to integrating technology into education led to his 40 Under 40 Award recognition.

Abel has managed technology operations and budgets of up to $1 million and has been instrumental in overseeing IT policies that support educational and business needs. He is passionate about using technology to solve complex problems and enhance organizational efficiency.

Abel holds several associate degrees from Pima Community College, a Bachelor’s in Sociology from Northern Arizona University, and is currently pursuing an MBA in Technology from Western Governors University. He is also an active volunteer, mentoring youth sports and supporting nonprofits with pro bono consulting.
